Note: This unit was originally raised in the 16th Century, as a Body Guard to Raja Man Singh, the famous Commander-in-Chief of Akbar's Army. This unit was reorganized in 1932 and Maharaja Sawai Man Singh had it trained on the lines of the Brigade of Guards and named it the Sawai Man Guards". At the outbreak of World War II the unit saw service in Egypt, Palestine, and Italy.
