It Covers the period from the earliest issues, struck during the Lichhavi Dybasty until the end of the reign of Prithvi Vir Bikram Shah in 1911. More than 1400 Coins are described and most are illustrated on the 51 plates. The first chapter is devoted to a new and detailed classification of the coins of the Lichhavi Dynasty, and sequent chapters deal with the few coins attributed  to the Mediaeval period and to the fine series of silver coins struck by the Malla rulers in the Kathmandu Valley. A Very large number of coins are published for the first time in this book and many aspects of the coinage are discussed in the text, including the historical and economic background to their issue.
