The Ancient history of Gandhara can be divided into three general periods, the Indo-Greek, Saka-Pahlava and kushana. Studies of all three periods are interdependent. Coinage is perhaps the most important single source of information on the history of each, and for the Saka-Pahlavas it is practically the only source .Therefore, the coinage of the Sakas and in its intermediate position between the indo-Greeks and Kushanas.
