Austria, Joseph I, Gold 8 Florins (20 Francs), 1892 AD, Edge: The edge has an incuse inscription:- VIRIBUS UNITIS, Obv: the laureate head, facing right, of Emperor Franz Joseph I FRANCISCUS IOSEPHUS I D G IMPERATOR ET REX, Rev: the arms of Austria superimposed upon a crowned double-headed Imperial eagle, IMPERIUM AUSTRIACUM, 8 FL 20 Fr, 1892, 6.4g, 20.63mm, about UNC.

 
All 1892 dated Austrian gold 20 Francs 8 Florins are Austrian Mint official re-strikes, issued partially as commemoratives, and partly as a gold bullion coin.

The dual denomination 20 francs 8 florins is one of the many varied denominations of gold coin which Austria has produced in its long history. Between 1870 and 1892 Austria produced two different coin types, each of which carried face values in two different monetary systems, this is because these coins were "trade coinage" intended for international use as bullion coins.

20 Francs 8 Florins
These were issued between 1870 and 1891, but with official re-strikes dated 1892 being issued indefinitely. All the pre 1892 issues tend therefore to be of more interest to collectors, although there is nothing wrong with finding space for the 1892 re-strikes in any collection.
