Full Description: Tirath Haridwar. In Name of Shah Alam II. Silver Rupee. AH 1214/41 RY (Ref. # T 1a.p. 156 By KKM & KWW) Very fine and extremely rare mint for the Marathas. Ex. Rare. Hariwdar is an ancient town is famous hindu place of Pilgrimage it recorded that AKBAR struck coins at Haridwar, but there after it was never a mint of the Mughal Emporer.
Haridwar was during the latter part of the 18 Cent. In the Jagir of Ghulam Qadir Khan. It was taken from Him by The Marathas.
The Maratha carried on the mint at Haridwar, but apparently very spasmodically, and in small way for the coins very rare.
