Quick Description
MintShahjahanabad (Dar ul khilafat)MetalSilver
Year (AH/VS/SE/AM)1070 AH
Full Description:

Aurangzeb Alamgir, Shahjahanabad Dar-ul-Khilafa Mint, Silver Rupee, Double Regional year type,  AH 1070/Ahad & 2 RY,  Obv: "abul zafar" muhiuddin muhammad alamgir badshah ghazi, Rev: sana julus zarb on top, 10.66g, 23.7mm, (Similar to KM # 297.7), about very fine, Extremely Rare.

Aurangzeb's Shahjahanabad coin is usually found in Badre Munir couplet, while this one is issued in his full name and title which is very rare to find and very few specimen are known. But this particular specimen has Regnal year '2' engraved over 'Ahd' which to the auctioneer's knowledge is the first piece known.

It can possibly have 2 explanations. First Aurangzeb had 3 coronations, and the second the year changes and die is not worn out so instead of making a new reverse die, the engraver engraves 2 over Ahd in the same die.
