Murtazabad is a small Village in Mufti Ganj Tehsil in Jaunpur District of Uttar Pradesh. It is located in the Varanasi Division, 19 KM towards East from District head quarters Jaunpur. Such a mint name existed only on the Maratha coin of the Maharashtra area which was the name given to Miraj.Occurance of similar name during the 18th -19th century from Uttar Pradesh is a good addition to numismatic knowledge.

Specimen has been found with coins of Sambhal and Pali Humayunpur and hence it is a part of  a currency bag from Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal. As the coin was found  it is certain that it was minted by the Rohillas, most probably by Hafiz Rahmat Khan.
