Poonamali or Punamali has often been identified with ‘Poonamallee or Poovirundhavalli, which is a suburb located about 13 miles from Chennai and has an old fort now in ruins. But it is also the name of the fortress at Tiruchirappalli and it is difficult to ascertain which of these two places these coins were struck at. | ||||
