Full Description: Medal, Jaipur State – Samode Thikana, Copper Medal, 1921, Un-awarded, Obv: coat of arms of Samode Thikana, Rev: legend "S.F.C.C 1921 WON BY", 16.47g, 41.43mm, (Unlisted & Unreported), choice extremely fine, Extremely Rare. Note: Samode is located around 42 kms from Jaipur, its history goes back to the year 1528 CE, this estate was founded by the Rao Gopalji, the fourth son of Raja Prithivraj Singhji I of Jaipur. But it was lost soon after that, and then subsequently regained by the family in the 1757. This medal was possibly issued under the reign of Rawal Sangram Singh. Samode was the 2nd most senior Thikana and the title of Rawal (Rawat) was granted in the year 1757. The present head of the estate is Rawal Raja Raghvendra Singh. |
