Full Description: 1840, Victoria Queen, Silver, Error Rupee, 2 Portraits of Victoria Queen, Divided Legend, Error: Obverse double struck and rotated in die, the Obverse gives an impression of having being struck twice with 2 portraits of Victoria Queen at different angles from each other, the cause of the error is that the planchet was turned during the 2nd strike leaving the additional portrait of Victoria, Reverse is slightly double struck, graded & slabbed by NGC as MINT ERROR AU 50, Exceedingly Rare. Note: An absolute important error coin in the British Indian Coinage. The double portrait errors are even rarer than the brockage which is believed to struck once in one lakh coins striking thus called lakhi. First time offered in any auction. |
