Full Description:

Panchala Dynasty, Monarchical Coinage, Punda (Pundra) Mitra (100 AD), Alloyed Copper 1/4 Karshapana, Obv: a row of symbols, Brahmi legend "Pundami(tasa)" below, all within a deep rectangular incuse Rev: a railing and a pedestal with a lotus above, 2.92g, 16.31mm, (Unpublished), about extremely fine, Unique.

Note: Outside of numismatic evidence relating to the Panchala Kingdom of the Post-Mauryan North India, there is no mention of a ruler named Pundamitra (Sanskrit: Pundramitra) in known historical sources. He appears to have ruled in the middle-Panchala period and is chronologically placed in the proximity of Agnimitra, Bhanumitra, Bhumimitra and Falgunimitra. The word ‘Pundra’ translates to ‘white lotus’ making the motif on the reverse symbolically related to the name of the issuer.
