Gupta Dynasty, Samudragupta (335-370 AD), Gold Dinar, “Scepter/Standard” type, Large flan, Obv: the king standing, nimbate, facing left, holding the royal scepter (Rajadhanda) adorned with ribbon in his left hand and sacrificing over an altar, Garuda standard on the left field, Brahmi legend “Samudra” below the king's arm, circular Brahmi legend “Samarasatavita……” around the field, Rev: the goddess Lakshmi, nimbate, seated on high backed throne, whose two legs are clearly visible, with her feet resting on a circular mat below, diadem and cornucopia in her hands, a tamgha on the top-left field and a small symbol on the top-right, Brahmi legend “Parakramah” on the right field, 7.21g, 19.59mm, (Variant of Altekar, Bayana Hoard # Pl.
