Note: The Indian Chemical Society, was founded in 1924, as a National Forum for the community of chemists and members of allied disciplines in the country. The driving force behind its establishment was the nationalistic spirit prevailing in India under British rule. The Society was founded on May 9, 1924, with Sir Prafulla Chandra Ray, a doyen amongst Indian Chemists, as its first president. Many distinguished personalities in the field of Chemical Science in India at that time took active interest in nurturing the newly born Society. The Silver Jubilee Celebration of the Indian Chemical Society was held at the University College of Science and Technology, Calcutta in 1948, and the Golden Jubilee Celebration was held in the same institution in 1973. On each of these occasions commemorative medals were minted. This Pair, in near mint condition, is now being offered to collectors.
