Vijayanagara Empire, Aravidu Dynasty, Venkatapathiraya II (15-16 Century AD), Gold Varaha, Obv: the god Venkateshwara standing below an ornamental arch facing forward, holding a discus (chakra) and a conch-shell (shankha) in two separate hands while another hand is in the abhayamudra gesture, Rev: Nagari legend rules (“Shri Ven/katagiri/shwara”) in three lines with interlinear, 3.34g, 12.63mm, (JONS. 230, Chandragiri coins of Aravidu Dynasty # Pl. 1), reverse legend is obscured due to heavy strike at obverse, choice extremely fine, Very Rare.
