Full Description: Madras Presidency, Silver 1/2 Pagoda, 2nd Issue,1808 AD, Obv: a nine-tiered gopuram of a temple, on stony ground with around nine stars on each side, bordered by a buckled garter containing the value "HALF PAGODA" in English and Persian, all within a beaded border, Rev: a figure of the god Vishnu holding a long sword in his left hand and rising from a lotus, dots and other symbols on each side within three beaded circles, all this within a ribbon containing the value in Tamil and Telugu, 21.1g, 36.00mm, (Unlisted Variety), about extremely fine, Extremely Rare. Note: It is an interesting coin with stylistic differences in its buckle, sword, arrangements of beads, and its combination. |
