Full Description: Delhi Sultanate, Suri Dynasty, Sher Shah (AH 945-952/1538-1545 AD), Mintless, Silver Rupee, AH 958, Obv: Arabic legends, The Kalama Shahada at the top in two-lines, "al-sultan ul Adil" at the bottom, the four Caliphs' names on the margins, Rev: Arabic legends, "sultan Sher Shah khuld allahu mulkahu wa sultanahu", Hijri year 958 and Nagari legend ‘Sri Ser Sahi’ within a square, ruler's title in the margin, 11.4g, 26.00mm, (Unlisted type in G&G), shroff marks, choice extremely fine, Very Rare. Note: The date on this coin is AH 958 which falls in the reign of Islam Shah Suri; the engraver must have engraved 958 instead of 948 by mistake. |
