Full Description:

Jodhpur, Bakht Singh/Bijay Singh, Jodhpur Dar al-Mansur mint, Silver Rupee, AH (11)65/RY 5, In the name of Ahmad Shah Bahadur, Obv: Persian legend “Sikka Mubarak Badshah Ghazi Ahmad Shah Bahadur”, Rev: Persian legend “sana 5 julus”, zarb Jodhpur with epithet “Dar al Mansur” at the top, 11.24g, 24.00mm, (M&J J.01.02), about extremely fine, Rare.

Note: It must have been Bakht Singh who initiated striking coins in Marwar as the Jodhpur mint was established during the reign of Bakht Singh. The very first issue in the name of Ahmad Shah Bahadur, AH1164/4, has the mint name Garh Jodhpur at the bottom. These coins were probably struck on the occasion of Bakht Singh ascending the throne at Jodhpur on 8 July 1751. After this initial issue, coins continued to be struck, but now with the mint name Dar al Mansur Jodhpur at the top line of the reverse. Bakht Singh died on 21 September 1752 and was succeeded by Bijay Singh. The specimen above could either be an issue of Bakht Singh or of Bijay Singh.
