Note: The Bombay Presidency Amateur Boxing Federation, the first governing body for boxing in India, was founded in 1925. It was responsible for developing and popularizing the sport across the country, and it was due to the efforts of H.V. Pointon, its President (1944-48), that the Indian Amateur Federation was formed in February 1949. The First Indian National Amateur Boxing championship was held at the Brabourne Stadium in Bombay in 1950.
