Rohilkhand, Ghausgarh Mint, pseudo mint name Najibabad Mint, Silver Rupee, AH (1)197/24 RY, "Saya-e-fazle elah" Couplet, In the name of Shah Alam II, Obv: Persian legend “sikka zad bar haft kishwar saya-e-fazle elah, hami deen-e-Muhammad Shah Alam Badshah”, with the crescent mark & the Hijri year 1197, Rev: Persian legend “sana 24 julus" "zarb Najibabad" at the top, the initial letter "Mim, Jim & Swad" mint marks at the bottom,11.20g, 21.00mm, (Date & mintmarks is unlisted for the type in KM), choice extremely fine, Rare.

Note: The seat of the Rohillas, Najibabad, was lost to Awadh in 1774. The seat of Najib Khan’s family was then moved to Ghausgarh, a fortress buit by Najib Khan in 1765. Coins dated from 1188/16 Ry are known with the mintmark fish for Awadh to the right of the Ry. A parallel series of coins are known of ‘Najibabad’ mint with the mintmark of a Katar of the Rohillas. It’s suggested that those coins were probably struck by the Rohillas at their fort at Ghausgarh.
