Full Description: Later Kushan Dynasty, Kidara-Kushan (365-390 CE), Base Gold Dinar, "Ardokhsho" type, Obv: the king, crowned and nimbate, standing facing left, sacrificing over an altar, a ribboned trident surmounts the altar, holding a standard in his left hand, the Brahmi initials ("Kapana") next to the altar, "Kidara" under his raised left arm and "Kushana" to the outer right, Rev: the goddess Ardokhsho enthroned, nimbate, facing forward, holding a cornucopia in her left hand and a diadem with a ladder-like ribbon in her extended right hand, the Brahmi initial “Ala” on the right field, a tamgha on the upper-left field, a dotted border around the field, 7.76g, 21.42mm, (Gobl # 617/Jongward & Cribb # 2443), about very fine, Very Rare. |
