Full Description: Indo-Portuguese, 1924, Specimen 20 (Vinte) Rupias, Banco Nacional Ultramarino, 3rd Issue, Signed by Vice Governor Henrique Jose Monteiro De Mendonca & Governor Joao Henrique Ulrich, S. No. 000000, 'SPECIMEN' on obverse, red specimen overprint, (KJ & RR # 12.17.1), graded by PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated, Top-Pop and highest graded, Extremely Rare. Note: This is a well-preserved large-sized colour trial specimen note, without any punches and has maintained its original vibrant color. There is a vignette from the Sri Saptakoteshwar Temple in Goa, at the center of the obverse & a charging tiger in the center on the reverse. These were printed by Thomas de la Rue, London. The note is boldly stamped ‘SPECIMEN’ in red across the face and has solid zero serial numbers. This banknote is Top-Pop, or of the highest grade for this type. Currently, only 4 pieces, including this one, are known of this grade, on the PMG census. This is a spectacular example overall. |
