Full Description: Punch Marked Coin, Shakya Janapada (600-500 BC), Narhan Hoard type, Silver 5 Shana, Scyphate, Obv: a single bold punched floral symbol with a central dot surrounded by six petal-like pellets within a circle, banker’s marks (bull, flower, tree and other ancillary symbols) around the field, Rev: uniface, 6.67g, 29.3x17.5mm, (Unlisted in Rajgors & Hardekar), about extremely fine, Extremely Rare Note: An interesting new type from this series! The central symbol has six pellets instead of the usual seven. The bull symbol is prominent along with other banker’s marks (flower, tree, sun, and other ancillary symbols). It is an unusual type which has not been offered in past auctions. |
