Full Description: Shah Alam II (AH 1174-1221/1759-1806 AD), Shahjahanabad Dar-ul-Khilafa Mint, Gold Mohur, AH (118)9/ 17 RY, "Saya-e-fazle elah" Couplet, Obv: Persian legend "sikka zad bar haft kishwar sayaye fazle elah, hami-e-dine Muhammad Shah Alam Badshah", chhatra mint mark, Rev: Persian legends "sana 17 julus" & "zarb Shahjahanabad" with the epithet "Dar ul khilafa" at the top, 10.5g, 18.96mm, (Variant of KM # 719, Chhatra mint mark & date is Unlisted), test mark on the edge, about extremely fine, Very Rare. Note: KM does not list this date and mint mark Chhatra. It is an uncommon type with this mint mark for the gold coins struck at Shahjananabad. A rare type! |
