Note: Haridwar or Hardwar is an ancient town and holy place for Hindu pilgrimage. Mughal ruler Akbar was the first and only Mughal emperor who struck coins from here. During the latter part of the 18th century it was in the Jagir of Rohilla Chief Ghulam Qadir Khan and it was taken from him by the Marathas at the same time as they occupied Saharanpur in 1788/89, the Marathas carried on the mint at Haridwar but apparently very spasmodically, thus these coin are very rare.
