Full Description: Shah Jahan (AH 1037-1068/1628-1658 AD) Akbarabad Dar-ul-Khilafa Mint, Silver Square Rupee, AH 1038/2 RY, Month Ardibihisht (Taurus), Obv: Arabic legend The Kalima Shahada at the top in two lines, "zarb Akbarabad" with the epithet "Dar ul Khilafa" and Elahi month Ardibihisht at the bottom in two lines, Rev: Persian legend “sahib e qiran sani Shihab ud din Muhammad Shahajahan Badshah Ghazi" with Hijri year 1038 in four lines, 11.3g, 19.97 x 20.02mm, (Unlisted in KM), test marks, partial dotted border on both sides, very attractive, beautifully struck, XF-AU, Exceedingly Rare. Note: Shahjahan’s square silver coins are uncommon and very rare. It is possible that these were struck with specially prepared dies for some special ceremonial or presentation purposes. Despite their rarity, Shahjahan's square silver coins are extremely valuable. |
