Full Description: Kushan Dynasty, Shaka I (325-345 CE), Gold Dinar, "Ardokhsho" type, Mint Peshawar?, Obv: the diademed king, crowned and nimbate, standing facing the left, sacrificing over an altar, holding a standard in his left hand, while a ribboned trident surmounts the altar, the Brahmi initials "Bhr" to the inner right and "Shaka" to the outer right, Rev: the goddess Ardokhsho enthroned, nimbate, facing forward, holding a cornucopia in her left hand and a diadem in her extended right hand, the Bactrian legend "APΔOXþO" (ARODKHSHO) on the right field, a tamgha in upper left field, 7.8g, 18.7mm, (Gobl # 589), sharply struck, minute details, choice quality, AU-UNC, Very Rare in this grade. |
