Britsh India, 1943, Indian Title Badge Rai Sahib Medal with Original Letter, King George VI, Silver, Awarded to "Babu Hemanta Kumar Bhattacharyya", Obv: the British crown with a laurel wreath below it, portrait of King George VI facing left in the central circle, outer circle engraved with the title "RAI SAHIB" on blue enamel, all surmounted on a 5-pointed rayed star, Rev: awarded to "Babu Hemanta Kumar Bhattacharyya 1st jany. 1943" engraved, along with the ring & ribbon to wear, 50g, 45.48 X 58.35mm, (MYB 2007 # 327), packed in black rexine box, letter of conferring the award certificate, full length ribbon, superb quality, lovely toning and luster, Choice UNC, Exceedingly Rare.

Note: This title comes with the original letter sent by the Viceroy of India to Babu Hemanta Kumar Bhattacharya on the subject of the services rendered by the recipient and the conferring upon him of the Rai Sahib Title Badge in recognition of his services.

There has never been an opportunity before to possess the prestigious Rai Sahib medal with the original cover letter, the full-length original ribbon, and the original box.

RAI  SAHIB HEMANTA  KUMAR  BHATTACHARYYA.
        You entered the Bengal  Secretariat in 1914 and have worked in the Finance Department since 1921.
You became  Assistant  Secretary, Budget  Branch, in 1938, and your work in this capacity has been distinguished by the conscientiousness,  accuracy and sound judgment which has, throughout your service, rendered you an officer of outstanding value to  Government.
                I recognition of your Services,  His  Excellency the  Vicero has now been pleased  to confer upon you  the title of Rai Sahib,  and I Have much pleasure in investing you with the Badge of  That title.
