Note:  A fascinating aspect of Jahangir's reign was his experimentation with coins. In addition to their high quality, weight standards, and intricate designs, coins from his period are known in a variety of denominations with interesting names. For heavyweight silver half rupees of high purity, the Sultani denomination was used.

The Tuzuk-e-Jahangiri records the following names for fractional denominations; Gold coins of half tola as 'Nurani', meaning 'the light' and quarter tola as 'Riwazi'. The silver coins (sikkas) of 10 tola were named 'Kaukab-i-bakht', meaning 'star of good luck', 5 tola as 'Kaukab-i-sa'd' meaning 'star of auspiciousness', 1 tola as 'Jahangiri', and 'Half Jahangiri as Sultani' meaning 'The Royal'.
