Full Description:

Aurangzeb Alamgir (AH 1068-1118 /1658-1707 AD), Mailapur Mint, Silver 1/16 Rupee Nisar (1 Anna Nisar), Obv: Persian legend "Nisar-i-Badshah Alamgir", Rev: Persian legend "zarb Mailapur", 0.67g, 8.79mm, (Unlisted  & Unpublished), about very fine, Exceedingly Rare.

Note: On its obverse, it bears the same legend as the Chinapatan Gold Nisar/Hon in the British Museum. Historically, Mailapur or Mylapore formed part of the city of Chennai. It was conquered by Aurangzeb during his reign. Mailapur's mint only operated during the last four years of Aurangzeb and the first three years of Shah Alam I.

This is perhaps the rarest of all Aurangzeb Nisars.

This coin is an important numismatic piece of Aurangzeb with the highest rarity.
