Full Description: Durrani Dynasty, Mahmud Shah ( 1st reign AH 1216-1218 /1801-1803 AD), Bahawalpur Mint, Silver 2 Rupees (Double Rupee), AH 1217 /1 RY, Hand-engraved oblique reading, "Bataufiq Elah" Couplet, Obv: Persian legend "Sikka zad ba zar bataufiq elah, khushru gitistan Mahmud Shah", Rev: Persian legend "zarb Bahawalpur" complete mint name at the bottom & "Sana 1 julus with memanat manus" at the top in two lines, 23.00g, 26.56mm, (KM # 244), beautiful floral motifs on both the sides, fabulous strike, about extremely fine, Very Rare. Note: In 1803, Mahmud Shah, one of the sons of Timur Shah Durrani, was ousted by his brother Shah Shuja al-Mulk. Shuja ruled as the Emir of Afghanistan for six years before Mahmud Shah overthrew him.
