Full Description: CIS-Patiala, Karam Singh (AH 1229-1261 /1813-1845 AD), Sahrind Mint (off flan), Silver Rupee, 'Qadir-e-Bechun' Couplet, AH (122)6, In the name of Ahmad Shah Durrani, Obv: Persian legend "hukm shud az qadir-e-bechun ba Ahmad Badshah, sikka-e-zan bar seem-o-zar az auj mahi ta bamah” with Hijri year (122)6, Rev: a symbol of "swad" in Persian letter 'seen' of Julus, a cross-like symbol at the left of ‘seen’ of ‘Julus’, 3 dots and branch right of ‘swad’, "zarb Sahrind" off flan at the bottom, 11.0g, 17.81mm, (Unlisted in KM & Saran & Dalwinder), a small edge cut otherwise, about extremely fine, Very Rare. Note: A unique feature of these coins is their early dates for the ruler. In AH 1226, Ajit Singh was enthroned after Sahib Singh's death. Sahib Singh was the younger brother and favorite of Karam Singh's father. There was an estrangement between Karam Singh and his mother Aus Kaur. |
