Full Description: Gupta Dynasty, Samudragupta (335-370 CE), Gold Dinar, "Battle Axe" type, Obv: king standing facing left, wearing a close-fitted cap, tailed coat, and trousers, there is a dagger hanging on his left side, the king holds a Battle Axe (Parashu) in the left hand, right hand resting on the waist, dwarf attendant (Vamana) at left, facing right and holding crescent-topped standard, Brahmi legend below the left hand of the king "Samudra" and partly visible circular legend reads "Kritantaparshurja(yatyajita rajjetajitah)", Rev: goddess Lakshmi enthroned facing on a throne, goddess feet on a lotus-shaped footrest, holding a diadem with coins in her right hand and cornucopia in left, a tamgha in the top-left field, Brahmi legend ("Kritantaparashu")(Battle- axe) in the right field, a dotted border around the field, 7.27g, 18.72mm, (Unlisted in Altekar/TOTGE, S. Kumar # Class II-Var. A.2), about very fine, Extremely Rare. Note: The goddess Lakshmi is shown resting her feet on lotus petals that are fully developed.
