Minto Fete, Queen Victoria, 1907, 1 Anna, Lion with Palm tree Envelope, addressed to Howrah, dispatched on 1 Feb 1907, in Red Cross cancellation “MINTO FETE-+-CALCUTTA 1 FE 1907 10PM” on front. Black round delivery seal “HOWRAH | 05. AM. | 6 FE. 07” on the back, excellent condition, Rare.

Note: An interesting lot for Medical theme collectors. In November 1905, Lord Minto succeeded Lord Curzon as Viceroy of India. Lady Minto, or Mary Caroline Grey, was deeply involved in the Indian Nursing Association and organized a Fete to provide endowments. Calcutta hosted it between January 20th and February 7th 1907.
