Full Description: Airgraph Form, King George VI, Franking value of 8 Annas, printed by H. M. (His Majesty) Security Press, Nasik Road, mint condition, Rare. Note: The Airgraph service, also known as "V-Mail" (short for "Victory Mail"), was a communication system that allowed military personnel to send letters efficiently and securely during World War II to their families. The system was developed to address the challenges and delays associated with traditional mail delivery, particularly in war zones. It involved a two-step process. First, senders filled out a form provided by the service. There was a space for the message, recipient information, and a small personal message. Letters were either handed over to military postal services or civilian post offices once completed. While Airgraph was primarily used for military communication in World War II, it was also used by civilians. Hence, British Indians could also contact their loved ones in the military using this service. |
