Full Description: Babur (AH 932-937 /1525-1530 AD), Agra Mint (by Style), Silver Shahrukhi (Misqal /Mithqal), AH (9)36, Obv: Arabic legend The Kalima Shahada within a circle, the four Caliph's names in the margin, Rev: Arabic legend "Zahir-ud din Muhammad Babur Badshah Ghazi" in the centre, "Sultan al a’zam khaqan al mukarram" at the top, "khuld Allahu mulkahu wa sultanahu" & "zarb Agra" at the bottom, 4.70g, 26.03mm, (Rahman # 100.01-100.14), test mark, usual flatness, about extremely fine, Very Rare. Note: Following the defeat of Ibrahim Lodi, in Rajab AH 933, Humayun was swiftly dispatched to Delhi and Agra, successfully accomplishing the mission. Babur subsequently arrived at his own leisure, and the city remained his primary residence until his death. All coinage issued under Babur, particularly those with known dates of 936 and 937, is rare. |
