Note: On the obverse, a distinct 'Kangha' symbol is positioned between the Persian letters 'Guru and Bind of Gobind.' The reverse features the Persian word 'Akal.' In AD 1805 (VS1862), Ranjit Singh gained control of Amritsar. Historians suggest that he marked this triumph by incorporating the religious symbol of 'Kangha' (Comb) onto his coins. This symbol holds significance as one of the five 'Ks' or essentials in the Sikh Religion, as prescribed by Guru Gobind Singh, the founder of the Khalsa. It became a customary practice for Lahore Durbar to send the donation of the first minted coins of any new series to Akal Takht Sahib in Amritsar.
