Kushan Dynasty, Kanishka I (127-140 CE), Gold Dinar, “OESHO” (Shiva) type, Main Mint in Bactria (Balkh?), Obv: the diademed king standing facing the left, holding a spear in his left hand and sacrificing over an altar on the left field, with flames on his right shoulder, the Bactrian legend "ÞAONANOÞAO KA-NHÞKI KOÞANO" "Shaonashao Kanishki Koshano" (King of Kings, Kanishka the Kushan) around the field, Rev: a four-armed lord Shiva standing facing left, nimbate, hair in a topknot and wearing a dhoti, holding a tilted water pot (lota) in his extended lower-right hand, a damru in upper-right hand, and a trident in upper-left hand, an animal (buck or goat) is held by the horns in his lower-left hand, left hand akimbo, tamgha on the left field, the Bactrian legend “OηþO” (OESHO) on the right field, a dotted border around the field, 7.85g, 16.6mm, (Gobl # 37/Jongward & Cribb # 372), choice very fine, Very Rare.
