Gupta Dynasty, Kumaragupta I alias Mahendraditya (415-455 CE), Gold Dinar, "Lion Slayer" type, Obv: the king standing, is seen mid-hunt, wearing dhoti and sash on his upper torso, holding a bow in his left hand with the right releasing the bowstring, the lion is facing the king and seen falling backward probably with an arrow in its mouth, the Brahmi legend “(Sakshadiva narasimhah simha)mahendro jayatyanisam” around the field, Rev: goddess Lakshmi, nimbate, seen wearing jewelry on her ears, neck and hands, seated in a Padmasana pose on couchant Lion to right, she holds a diadem in her right hand and a lotus in her left hand, a tamgha on the top left field, the Brahmi legend "Srimahendra(simhah)" on the right field, a dotted border around the field, 8.5g, 19.58mm, (Altekar, Bayana Hoard # Pl. XIX-1/TGE, S. Kumar # Class II-Var. D), almost complete details on both the sides, bold strike, test cut, about extremely fine, Extremely Rare.
