Spoon, Rangoon Volunteer Rifles Silver Spoon, After the mutiny of 1857, the British Crown raised Auxiliary Forces of India (AFI) battalions drawing volunteers from among the British settlers, and Parsis for civil defense in all the garrison towns. This was done to prevent incidents of arson that had accompanied the Indian Mutiny of 1857. One of these battalions was the Rangoon Volunteer Rifles (RVR).
