Kushan Dynasty, Huvishka (160-190 AD), Gold 1/4 Dinar, "Skando-Komaro and Bizago"(Skanda-Kumara ‘Kartikeya’-Vishaka) type, Ex-mount, Obv: diademed and crowned half-length bust left on clouds, flames at shoulder, holding mace-scepter in one hand and elephant-goad (ankush) in the other hand, Bactrian legend around "þAO......" (King of Kings Huvishka Kushan), Rev: Skando-Komaro and Bizago, nimbate, standing facing each other, the former holding a spear in his right hand and a sword-hilt in his left, and the latter holding a spear in his left hand with his right hand akimbo on his waist, tamgha between them, Bactrian legend “CKANΔO KOMAPO BIZAΓO” “Skando Komaro Bizago” around the field, 1.75g, 12.0mm, (Gobl # 166), about very fine, Extremely Rare.

Note: "Skando-Komaro"- Skanda and Kumar are the names of the warrior god Kartikeya who in the Indian mythology is said to be the son of Shiva and Parvati. "Bizago" has been identified with the Shaivite deity Vishakha and is generally depicted along with Skando-Kumaro in the coinage of Huvishka. Vishakha is the daughter of the King Daksha in mythology and the 16th nakshatra (constellation) in the Hindu zodiac. Vishakha also happens to be the birth star of the warrior god Skanda (Kartikeya) and hence possibly associated with him on the coins.

Similar type in extremely fine condition was sold in an international auction for US$8000 in 2013.
