Full Description: Pallavas of Kanchi (4-6 Century CE), Bronze Unit, Elephant type, Obv: an upright bull facing right, a snake, a crescent, a conch-shell (shankha) and a Srivatsa symbol above, beaded border around the field, Rev: an elephant standing facing right, linear border around the field, 2.09.g, 16.82mm, (The Pallava Coins, R. Krishnamurthy # 217), choice very fine, Exceedingly Rare. Note: This type with the combination of an elephant & a bull has not been offered in public auctions in the past. It is a significant offering as it is rare type from the Pallava coinage. |
