Full Description: Pallavas of Kanchi (4-6 Century CE), Bronze Unit, Broad flan, Flag type, Obv: an upright bull facing right, a snake, a crescent, a conch-shell (shankha) and a Srivatsa symbol above, beaded border around the field, Rev: a flag mast on a lotus, with triangular head, linear border around the field, 4.21g, 22.07mm, (The Pallava Coins, R. Krishnamurthy # 218), complete details visible on both sides with sharp strike, choice extremely fine, Extremely Rare. Note: This type, with a flag on a lotus, is notably one of the rarest from the Pallava coinage. It is important that its details are entirely visible on both sides. |
