Vijayanagara EmpireAravidu Dynasty, Venkatapathiraya II (15-16 Century CE), Gold Varaha, Obv: the god Venkateshwara standing under an ornamental arch facing forward, holding a discus (chakra) and a conch-shell (shankha) in two separate hands, while another hand makes the abhayamudra gesture, Rev: traces of obscured Nagari legend (“Shri Ven/katagiri/shwara”) in three lines with interlinear rules, 3.3g, 12.7mm, (JONS. 230, Chandragiri coins of Aravidu Dynasty # Pl. 1), the reverse legend is obscured due to heavy strike at obverse, sharply struck with attractive features, choice uncirculated, Very Rare.
